Background
I taught elementary school for five years, was a lecturer at Syracuse University for five years while I was earning my doctorate, and have taught at the University of Florida since 1974. Early in my career I participated in the institute for the Development of Human Resources run by Dr. Ira Gordon and served on the Board of the Alachua County Coordinated Child Care. My office moved from Building K to Peabody Hall and finally to Norman Hall. I have had wonderful opportunities to work with classroom teachers at Blackburn Elementary School in Manatee County, P. K. Yonge, NEFEC schools, and in Alachua County. My passion is for multicultural and international children's literature and my goals are to create classrooms full of this award-winning literature.
