Part I ~ The Subject of Physics 1. Everyone should have some basic knowledge of physics. 2. Physics helps me to understand other science subjects. 3. Physics scares me. 4. The only reason I am taking physics is because it is required. 5. Physics is more interesting than other science subjects. 6. Studying physics has made me realize that a lot of everyday things I see outside of class can be explained by physics. Part II ~ The Teaching of Physics 7. I do not need to read my physics textbook to succeed in this class. 8. I find the labs help me better understand physics concepts. 9. Physics has many technical terms which are hard to remember. 10. The physics textbook for this class is difficult to read and understand. 11. I find the drawings in my current physics textbook helpful in understanding the basic concepts. 12. I really like it when the instructor uses demonstrations to help explain a physics concept. 13. My physics instructor spends too much time on formulas and not time on the underlying concepts or ideas. 14. I think my high school physics course gave me an adequate preparation for my first university physics class.
Part III ~ Mathematics and Physics 15. Mathematics helps me understand physics. 16. I would do better in physics if there were no calculations involved. 17. I would prefer to do some physics calculations than read about physics. 18. The calculations required on physics exams make my scores lower. 19. I feel like walking out of the class when the instructor starts to write equations on the board. 20. Often, I can get the right answer to a problem without really understanding the fundamental concept. |
