My research agenda has become defined by the impact that school counselors and administrators can have in improving equity and access to educational opportunities, at the pk-12 level and at the post-secondary level. The school counselor's role in promoting academic achievement has become a main focus of my scholarship through action and inquiry research. Critical to the success for any school counselor or counselor educator's research agenda is establishing collaborative structures and relationships with public schools and communities. Having worked in a variety of school settings as a counselor and administrator in the United States and Europe , I have been interested in multicultural and diversity issues and in helping students learn from and embrace one another's differences. I have always believed that classroom and school climate is an important key to academic success. How students and teachers relate to one another and create an atmosphere of caring and respect is vital to the mission of educating students in an increasingly multicultural society.
The following is an example of some of my work with schools.
