Introducing Mary Ann Clark

Mary Ann Clark received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education,
specializing in School Counseling, at the University of Florida in 1998. She earned her M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her B. A. in psychology from Wake Forest University. She is a National Certified Counselor and iis an associate professor and Coordinator of the School Counseling Program in the Department of Counselor Education. Dr. Clark's current research interests include university/school partnerships, cross cultural collaborations, the school counselor as educational leader and school counseling interventions to support academic achievement.

Dr. Clark has always enjoyed international work as she served as a school counselor and administrator with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools on military bases in England. Her latest position was as a counselor and work experience coordinator at a dormitory school near London where students whose parents were on active duty at remote locations around Europe and the Middle East were sent for their schooling. Her husband is from England and they have an 13 year old son, Chris, who enjoys being an "English boy and an American boy." The family enjoys a variety of sports, travel, reading, and the beach.

Recently, Dr. Clark has presented at international conferences on cultural diversity and applying multiple intelligence theory to work in schools. She is currently involved in an "Internationalizing the Curriculum" project supported by UF's International Center. The project involves faculty and students from Nottingham University in England, and Wollongong University in Australia in examining male underachievement in public education across cultures.
